Doxofylline, a derivative of theophylline, works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase enzymes, leading to bronchodilation and improved airflow in the lungs.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Pulmodox 200
Tablets (Conventional): 400 mg, taken 1 to 3 times daily.
Sustained-release Tablets: 400 mg once daily, preferably in the evening to reduce night-time symptoms and maintain relief throughout the day.
In some cases, based on the patient's condition, 400 mg twice daily may be prescribed.
The dose can be increased up to 1200 mg/day (400 mg three times daily) if needed.
Elderly Patients: Dosage may be reduced to 200 mg two or three times daily in those with cardiovascular, liver, kidney, or gastric conditions.
Syrup (Elderly): 10 ml, two or three times per day.
Pediatric Dosage
- Children >12 years (Tablets): 200 mg, two or three times daily.
- Children >12 years (Syrup): 10 ml, two or three times daily.
- Children <12 years: 6 mg/kg per dose, given twice daily.
If the response is inadequate, the dose may be increased to 9 mg/kg twice daily under medical supervision.
✔️ Common adverse effects include:
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, nervousness, insomnia, rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeats, rapid breathing, and occasionally high blood sugar or albumin in urine.
- In cases of overdose, serious heart arrhythmias and seizures may occur and could be early signs of toxicity.
- If side effects necessitate stopping treatment, restarting at a lower dose should only be done under a doctor's guidance.
✔️ Doxofylline may interact with:
- Other xanthine compounds,
- Ephedrine,
- Phenytoin and other anticonvulsants,
- Antibiotics like erythromycin, troleandomycin, lincomycin, clindamycin,
- Medications like allopurinol, cimetidine, ranitidine, propranolol,
- And influenza vaccine.

Not to be used in individuals with known allergy to Doxofylline or its ingredients.
Contraindicated in cases of acute myocardial infarction, low blood pressure, and in breastfeeding women.

- Use cautiously in patients with low oxygen levels, overactive thyroid, liver or kidney disorders, history of ulcers, and elderly individuals.
- Those with congestive heart failure (CHF) may retain the drug longer in their system after stopping treatment.

Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children. Pulmodox should be used only on prescription of specialist physician.
